Restoring and Preserving Your Vintage Photos
Old photos provide a history of our families, our links to the past. Preservation can be an overwhelming task. It doesn't need to be.
I can assist you with up to date information concerning the best methods to preserve and display your valuable, one of a kind photographs. Even images that you may think are too badly damaged frequently can be salvaged to at a minimum, provide you with a photographic record of your ancestors.
Color photography began to come into it's own by the mid 1960's. The process was not always accomplished using the best procedures. The industry was growing and photo studios knew they needed to offer this new color photography to remain competitive.
Today we see many color images that have turned various shades of red or orange as a result of color layers deteriorating. Sometimes these photos can be restored to look almost as they did when new, other times they may be too badly damaged and conversion to black and white or sepia (brown) tone is the only option. The good news is most can be salvaged, if you keep an open mind about your expectations!
ACE Imaging can provide services others can not. Traditional Hand Oils on fibre paper is experiencing a renewal. Customers are looking for something 'different' from the usual. They appreciate the elegance of this fine art, and its enduring beauty. What is fibre paper? It's those old photos made before 1960 and going back into the early 1800's. That is why they still survive!
ACE Imaging also specializes in Storyboard Composites of family photos. When completed, these images are a visual history of a person or family, beautiful images to display in your home.
Please take a few moments to browse through the Restorations Gallery. Pricing is not included as every image is unique based on condition, size desired, and quantity needed. A guide for a 'normal' restoration is under $50 including tax, printed on archival paper for an 8x10. Discounts are provided for volume projects, and reprints are very reasonably priced. Most importantly, your original is NEVER sent away to be restored. I personally do all the work. Your image is never damaged in any way and returned to you in the same condition which it was loaned to me.
One last comment. I pride myself on doing the best job I can. I have to face you when the work is delivered, and I want to feel I have given you what you expected. I want you to tell your friends how pleased you are with the work, not how disappointed. I frequently assist clients with projects others refuse. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, and always without obligation.
